This workshop will focus on creating beginner friendly cup forms with the use of simple templates. Using a template is an excellent way to make forms predictable, of a certain scale, and achieve consistency when making multiples.
In this workshop, Nadine will guide students through the process of turning a 2D pattern into a 3D vessel. Templates will be provided but it will also be possible to alter the template forms if desired. This workshop is beginner friendly and offers a very approachable introduction to the process of template design and slab building.
The bisque firing of one 6x6” piece is included in the workshop fee. Students may return to glaze fire by submitting the work for outside firing.
Nadine Sobel is a ceramic artist from New York. She graduated with a BFA from Alfred NYSCC in 2006. She has been working with clay for over 15 years. Living and working in Brooklyn, she has taught in various studios such as the 92nd St Y, JCC, and BKLYN CLAY.
