January 24, 7-10pm Prospect Heights
In this marbling workshop we’ll focus on creating wheel-thrown pieces using multiple clay bodies, exploring how color, contrast, and pattern emerge through various methods of combining clay.
Participants will learn how to choose clay bodies with compatible shrinkage rates and experiment with different ways of combining them to produce dynamic marbled pieces.Expect a balance of technical instruction and creative exploration, with space to test new ideas and push your process.
We'll work with a selection of 4 clay bodies offering a chance to explore new materials and how they behave when combined. Students should be confident in their ability to throw 4” cylinder. Bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
Students should have taken at least one wheel throwing class and be confident in their ability to throw 4” cylinders.
Students will be able to store their work at BKLYN CLAY for 2 weeks. Students will be provided 3 hours of open studio time for trimming their work. They may choose from the following open studio dates:
February 7, 7-10pm
February 8, 7-10pm
The bisque firing of one 7”x7” pot is included in the workshop fee. Students may bisque additional pieces or glaze pieces by outside firing
