During this single session workshop, Julia will guide students through making all the components for a unique and expressive ceramic wind chime. Participants will start with making a slab or coiled chime ‘crown’. Next, 6-12 ceramic chimes will be made using coiling, pinching or slab building methods. Lastly, a slab built clapper and optional wind catcher will be made. The workshop will conclude with a brief introduction to surface decoration including slips and underglaze. The bisque firing of one complete wind chime is included in the workshop fee. Students may return to glaze by making a glaze appointment. When the chimes are ready to pick up, each participant will receive a wind chime kit including string, ‘o’ rings and an ’s’ hooks to assemble your chimes.
